The Wonderful 101: Remastered Tech Analysis (Digital Foundry)

The team at Digital Foundry is taking a closer look at The Wonderful 101: Remastered on the PS4, Switch, and PC from a technical perspective. Now we have information on the frame rate, resolution, and how each version compares to the original Wii U release.

I feel like this game is unique, its well worth getting the remastering treatment. Initially released in 2013, The Wonderful 101 offered a creative use of the Wii U’s GamePad with the player utilizing the bespoke controller for dual-viewing of the area and for touch controls. You are tasked with saving the Earth from aliens and take charge of a bunch of heroes from The Wonderful 101, which was originally Wonder Red and Blue. Shapes are drawn on-screen via touch (or the right stick) to change skills. As you progress, more heroes will enter the fray until you’re in command of a vast cluster of heroes with a range of different abilities, taking on more prominent and dangerous foes. The comic-book art style is brilliant and goes well with the action, which reminds me of the classic Viewtiful Joe.
