You can now play original Xbox games online with this Xbox Live replacement. It’s hard to imagine that it has already been ten years since Xbox Live on the original Xbox was shut down. This new ‘replacement’ is currently in private development. It’s called Insignia and will allow original Xbox users to play online without any patches for software or modifications.
The team behind Insignia posted a short video showing the process of signing up to the Xbox Live style server (which you can watch above.) They said the service has been in private development since late 2019 and is hoping to have titles working by Fall 2020.
Microsoft is not supporting, of course, but it’s certainly exciting for retro gamers and old-school Xbox fans. The team says the service isn’t entirely ready yet, but a private beta will follow when testing is required.
What are your views on Insignia so far? Will you be trying it out? Let us know in the comments.
