Recently The Pokemon Company has shared a lot of new information about Pokemon Sword and Shield’s forthcoming expansions, The Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra. With new gameplay mechanics and environments, both expansions will present a variety of extra Pokemon to the games, including some brand-new alternate forms like Galarian Slowbrow and Legendaries like the three birds Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos.
You can get Galarian Slowbro by evolving a Galarian Slowpoke in the new expansion, Isle of Armor. Unlike the regular Slowbro we all know, this Galar-exclusive is a Poison/Psychic-type that can learn a special move called Shell Side Arm, which discharges poisonous liquid from the Shellder that’s clamped down on its arm. This Galar variant also has a new ability called Quick Draw, although no information has been shared yet.
Gigantamax Venusaur and Blastoise
Kanto starters Venasaur and Blastoise finally get some love and gain Gigantamax forms in the expansion Isle of Armor. Both Venasaur and Blastoise will have their own exclusive G-Max move. Gigantamax Venusaur’s attack, G-Max Vine Lash, will damage non-grass type enemies for four turns. Now for Gigantamax Blastoise, this Pokemon can use G-Max Cannonade, which like Vine Lash, damages non-water type enemies for four turns.
Regieleki and Regidrago
The Crown Tundra will be the second expansion for Pokemon Sword and Shield and will feature new Legendary Pokemon to the games. The first, Regieleki, is an Electric-type Pokemon that can learn an exclusive attack called Thunder Cage. This ability can trap opponents, preventing them from switching out, and causes damage every turn.
The second Regis is called Regidrago, and this Pokemon is a Dragon-type formed of “crystallized dragon energy.” Just like Regieleki, Regidrago can also learn its exclusive attack called Dragon Energy, which delivers more considerable damage depending on how much health Regidrago has. Regidrago also has the ability called Dragon’s Maw.
Galarian Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres
The second expansion, The Crown Tundra, will also introduce new Galarian forms to the original legendary trio, the three Legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Each of them will have their new typing and ability. First, Galarian Articuno is a Psychic/Flying-type that freeze opponents with a Psychic-type ability called Freezing Glare. Second, Galarian Zapdos is a Fighting/Flying-type that has the ability to learn Thunderous Kick. And finally, Galarian Moltres is a Dark/Flying-type that is capable of using a new move called Fiery Wrath.
