Sea Of Thieves To Start Rolling Out Custom Servers

Developer Rare has recently revealed that they will be rolling out custom servers for Sea of Thieves soon. They’re working hard to try and bring out an early alpha version. Throughout this time, the servers will be handled as a tool for chosen creators and community groups to utilize for community events.

Rare also explained that testing would soon begin for the Sea of Thieves Insiders program, before being rolled out to first groups and creators. Some alpha features will introduce the ability to create a Custom Adventure Server, customize ship numbers and types before starting, and no gold or reputation progression from Custom Server sessions.

“The key purpose of Custom Servers is to allow creative players the opportunity to use our sandbox to create unique experiences for their communities. They are not intended to be used as a PvE server, hence the removal of the ability to earn gold and rep.”

They said that it’s launching these servers to learn with a small group before planning on how to bring it to a wider audience. We currently have no details on how long this alpha period will be, but we will keep you posted.
