A couple of years back, rumours were floating around about a supposed Harry Potter game in development by Avalanche Software, and now in 2020, a post from Bloomberg has hinted that the game could be real and will release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in late 2021.
The report says that the game will be a big-budget title and will let players “role-play as wizards and roam a vast, open-world re-creation of Hogwarts and its surrounding areas.” It also said that Warner Bros. wanted to unveil the game at this year’s E3, but decided to showcase its Batman game at the DC FanDome event in August, with Harry Potter coming later.
The plans to unveil the title was made before author J.K. Rowling was heavily criticized for her recent comments on Twitter. Remember to take this with a grain of salt, and the author has said they have “very little direct involvement” with the game.
